Zayed Sports City Stadium, Abu Dhabi

Located in the centre of Abu Dhabi, the Zayed Sports City Stadium has certainly become a famous local landmark and is the largest multi-purpose stadium in the Gulf.

The external design of the stadium features iconic arches that continue on the floor surrounding the sporting ground, as well as being showcased in the venue’s logo. The overall design of the stadium is extremely open-planned and feels immense.  A running track surrounding the grass pitch allows the stadium’s multi-purpose design to host occasions for local and global events. 

Since its construction in 1979 by architects Henri Colboc, Pierre Dalidet and George Philippe, it has developed a great history and heritage, creating the opportunity for the Zayed Sports City Stadium to be featured on the AED 200 banknote.
