10 best designed roundabouts of 2016

Circular Pedestrian Bridge, Lujiazui, China

As a design feature, roundabouts don’t only have to filter motorists. China’s Circular Pedestrian Bridge proves this sentiment, as the overpass accommodates the movement of people, as opposed to vehicles.

In fact, the bridge helps anyone strolling, marching, jogging or wheeling avoid traffic from the colourful roundabout below. The structure could even be interpreted as a double-tiered rotary, where the ebb of mechanical and mammalian urban traffic is effectively monitored via these circular junctions. Elevated 20ft above ground, the bridge consists of various exits and entranceways, and leads to the Oriental Pearl Tower.
