The Dheva Spa and Wellness Centre at the Dhara Dhevi Resort

Behind the extravagant Dhara Dhevi Hotel is one of Thailand’s best conceptual designers, Rachen Intawong – better known as “Tam”. Playing a pivotal role since the resorts inception in 2001, Intawong and his team came up with the concept of an ancient city, where traditional Lanna culture and Asian colonial finery work together harmoniously. Like any traditional Thai palace, the Dhara Dhevi’s grounds contain paddy fields and lakes, wooden rice barns and magnificent colonial mansions.

Within this thriving, grand resort is the Dheva Spa and Wellness Centre; it offers 18 treatment rooms decorated in authentic Thai silk and a program called Ayurveda – believed to be the oldest healing science in existence, Ayurveda originated in India over 5,000 years ago. The spa is a sanctuary embellished with ornate mouldings and sculptures of sacred animals and symbolic Buddhists motifs; marble tiles, Asian antiques and polished teakwood decorate the interior. It took over three and a half years for the structure to be complete, making the Dheva spa an experience best enjoyed at a leisurely pace.
