The Broad may not be the most stand-out building on the street due to its location opposite Frank Gehry's glittering Disney Music Hall; nonetheless it does a fantastic job of being distinctive in its own way.

An undulating form is covered by a latticed veil crafted from glass-fibre reinforced concrete, allowing the acre of gallery space inside to be column free and bathed in natural, filtered sunlight.

New York-based architecture practice Diller Scofidio + Renfro was presented with the Blueprint Award for Best Public Use Project Privately Funded for the building's success.
