Yas Island waterfront community masterplan receives approval

Abu Dhabi Urban Planning Council has given the nod to the masterplan of the Yas Island waterfront community in Yas Island, Abu Dhabi, UAE.

The project, commissioned by Aldar PJSC, is led by global architecture, urbanism and design practice Broadway Malyan. It will lead to creation of several distinct communities which will form the main residential zones on the island. The community will be located on a 680 hectare-area and will accommodate a maximum of 55,000 inhabitants.

The communities will incorporate several amenities such as schools, health clinics and extensive sports facilities. There will also be creation of recreation facilities and retail and commercial units as part of the project. A comprehensive open space, road, light rapid transport, pedestrian and cycle network will connect the communities to other landmarks on the island.
