Willmott Dixon wins contract for John Radcliffe Hospital expansion

UK-based construction company Willmott Dixon has secured a £2.5 million ($3.8 million) contract from Oxford University Hospitals NHS Trust for the expansion of facilities of John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford, UK.

Under the terms of the contract, the company will build an extension to the Newborn Intensive Care Unit (NICU) of the hospital, which will expand the intensive care capacity for newborns by two folds. Scope of work involves construction of a two-storey extension, which will encompass an area of 410 square metres.

The facility will accommodate ten cots for premature and critically ill babies. The expanded NICU will have a secure entrance, reception, ward clerk’s office and waiting area for families and a quiet room for parents. Construction on the site is scheduled to begin in June 2012, with completion penciled for early 2013.
