Willmott Dixon wins contract for Derbyshire senior-care schemes

Willmott Dixon has secured a contract from Chevin Housing Association to build new extra care, affordable housing schemes at three locations in Derbyshire, UK.

Under the terms of the contract, Willmott Dixon will build three schemes at Foolow Court in Foolow Avenue, Chesterfield; Cressy Fields site in Cressy Road, Alfreton; and in Market Street in Clay Cross for older people. All the schemes have been designed by UK-based Lathams Architects.

Chevin Housing has secured planning approval for Foolow Court and plans to begin construction by November 2012. The Foolow Court scheme involves development of 55, two-bedroom apartments and communal facilities with parking and gardens.

The residential units at Foolow Court will feature two bedrooms, with ensuite facility for main bedroom and a spacious lounge. The second bedroom can be converted into study, dining room or hobby room.

The homes have a fitted, modern kitchen featuring modern tiles, units and flooring. They also feature patios with French doors that aid in bringing natural light into the inner spaces. The development will have roof-top garden or Juliette balconies. It will also have a contemporary and stylish design and will embrace several sustainable principles. It is also set to achieve high standards of sustainability to code level 3.

The Cressy Road scheme involves development of  52 apartments and communal facilities; while Clay Cross scheme involves development of 90 apartments with communal facilities and day care centre on former Clay Cross School site.

Chevin Housing Association is yet to receive planing permission for these two schemes. The company intends to wrap-up the complete project by the end of 2014.
