Westminster City Council approves plans for new London retail project
Westminster City Council has approved the plans of Buckingham Properties Limited to develop a new shopping district in Victoria, London.
The proposed plans include development of 12 new shops, a supermarket, and a restaurant complex on Buckingham Palace Road, which are located close to the Victoria Station.
The site, currently used for office and retail purposes, will undergo significant changes including the construction of new shop fronts and reconfiguration of the units as well as a new bus waiting area for passengers.
The current retail provision was thought to be too heavily focused towards tourists passing through Victoria Coach Station and failed to cater to the needs of local residents. The plans for the new shopping district are in line with the ongoing work to improve the long term public realm around Victoria station.
