Welch Allyn’s Skaneateles Falls headquarters expansion wins LEED Gold
Welch Allyn’s $35 million expansion and refurbishment of its global headquarters in Skaneateles Falls, New York, US has received LEED Gold from the US Green Building Council.
The project had a duration of four years and incorporated a host of eco-friendly elements in the facility. It includes installation of different systems which run low on water consumption. Use of these systems have reaped water cost cuts of 25%.
Renewable resources account for 35% of the property's energy needs. The facility records only a 8% rise in energy usage inspite of a 55% expansion in the building area.
Further, 20% of the materials utilised during the construction process are reclaimed. Recycling 80% of the construction waste of the building adds to the sustainability factor. The facility has also employed measures to minimise the rate of its carbon emissions.
