Walmart opens green store in California
US-based retailer Walmart has expanded its presence in the Californian region by opening a new green store at Eureka.
Located at 3300 Broadway St. at Bayshore Mall, the new Eureka Walmart has generated 170 new jobs in the region. The store has followed the upgraded layout design of the Walmart with wider aisles, lower shelving throughout, as well as directional signage on every aisle.
The store has also grouped the most frequently purchased products, which facilitate shopping experience. The interiors of the store has been done up in bright colour palette, which makes shopping more desirable.
In sync with Walmart's strategy to make its stores environmentally friendly, the new Walmart also incorporates a host of sustainable elements. It has been equipped with LED lighting fixtures throughout which are 70% more efficient compared to conventional fluorescent lighting. The store also has efficient water fixtures to minimize water consumption and wastage.
