VINCI Construction UK has completed the £2.9 million ($4.67 million) external refurbishment, repair and thermal update of three tower blocks named as the Ellen, Wilkinson, and Monastery Courts in Jarrow, UK for South Tyneside Homes.

Part of the South Tyneside regeneration scheme, 132 flats have been transformed into energy-efficient housing schemes from traditionally constructed apartment blocks.

The energy-efficient features of the scheme include a full external insulation render-wrap, energy-efficient windows and doors, as well as an improved heating and hot water system. All communal areas are also upgraded to complete the refurbishment.

Aimed at improving the lives of the residents of Jarrow significantly as well as changing the external appearance of the buildings, the upgrade will keep the homes warm in cold winter months and are expected to reduce energy bills.
