Utah State breaks ground on new strength and conditioning centre

Utah State University in the US has broken ground on a new $6.4 million strength and conditioning centre.

The facility will be constructed on existing university property at the northwest corner of Romney Stadium. It will cover an area of 21,000 square feet. Among the various features of the centre include areas for weight training, cardiovascular workouts and speed and agility training, along with offices dedicated for staff.

The new centre will have a capacity to house nearly 400 athletes from 16 sports programmes. Hence, it will offer respite to the current strength and conditioning center spanning 5,800 square feet and prevent it from overcrowding.

The project has been entirely financed through private donations which includes the largest single gift in the history of Aggie Athletics from an anonymous donor. Construction on the new facility is scheduled for completion by April 2013.
