University of Colorado, Boulder dedicates new biotechnology building
University of Colorado, Boulder in the US has dedicated the new $160 million Jennie Smoly Caruthers Biotechnology Building.
The research and teaching facility has been designed by a collaboration of Robert A.M. Stern Architects and HDR Architects Incorporation. It has been developed by JE Dunn Rocky Mountain Incorporation. It spans 336,800 square feet and will be home to the Department of Chemical and Biological Engineering, the Division of Biochemistry and the University of Colorado Biofrontiers Institute. The exterior of the building is clad in bricks and limestone.
The building comprises research neighborhoods made up of research labs and associated laboratory support spaces. The labs of the building incorporate a modular style. There is a main street corridor through the building to encourage interaction.
The property also incorporates various green features conforming to LEED Platinum standards. Its mechanical and electrical systems imbibe energy savings and energy recovery models.
