Two Winnipeg buildings reopen as an apartment and commercial complex

The Avenue Building, and the adjacent Hample Building on Portage’s 200-block in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada have undergone a $12.5 million makeover and reopened as a new apartment and commercial complex.

The renovation project has been led by developers Mark and Rick Hofer. The new property houses a total of 75 apartments. It includes 67 one-bedroom and studio suites, as well as eight two-bedroom suites. The units range in size between 500 to 100 square feet. All the suites don a contemporary open-plan concept. A total of six of these units will serve the low-income group whereas the remaining units will be leased at market rates.

The ground floor of the building comprises commercial space spanning over an area of 23,000 square feet. There is also a rooftop garden, as well as a parking space below with a capacity to accommodate 37 vehicles.

The project has received funds from the province, city and downtown development agency Centre Venture.
