Like something out of 'Grand Designs', the Noord Railway Station is one of the most innovative and forward-thinking we have seen in Europe. Designed by Dutch studio NL Architects, is a bold cross shaped arrangement of black shipping containers which frame a transparent waiting room.

These reclaimed shipping containers form a roof above the glazed waiting room. One has an open bottom, creating a double-height space, while the other two are sealed to provide overhead storage. The Noord Railway Station remains a perfect example of the way materials can be exquisitely reused, offering a space with pleasing aesthetics and an every-day use.
