The world's best designed sports stadiums 2016
Rungrado May Day Stadium, Pyongyang
When it comes to size, the Rungrado May Day Stadium in Pyongyang, North Korea, certainly comes in first place. Being able to seat an astonishing 150,000 people makes the stadium the largest in the world.

The structured roof is formed of 17 arches reaching over 60m in the air, while the stadium’s total floor space is over 207,000 sq m across eight whole stories. May Day Stadium used to be the unsightly location for the public execution of dissenting generals in the late 1990s. Today, the stadium is used mainly as a sporting venue, hosting football matches and a few other athletic events.

The rest of the world would recognise the stadium through the annual Mass Games, known in Korean as Arirang, which is a fanciful and inimitable tribute to the country's history, founders, and current leaders.
