Tennessee's Nance Place apartment receives LEED Platinum

The Rolling Mill Hill apartment building, known as Nance Place in Nashville, Tennessee, US has bagged LEED Platinum certification from the US Green Building Council.

The building is the first multi-family development project in the state to win the certification. It has been designed by a collaboration of Moody·Nolan Architects and Dryden Abernathy Architecture and Design with Nashville's Bomar Construction serving as the developer. The facility sports a modern industrial look featuring 109 one-, two- and three-bedroom apartments, and studio apartments for renters with 60% or less of area median income.

The facility imbibes various green features such as a white cool roof which repels heat during the warmer months. The lighting fixtures installed in the structure run low on energy consumption. It has also been equipped with Energy Star-certified appliances.

The interior courtyard of the facility incorporates a rainwater storage and treatment system, and drought-tolerant plants to reduce irrigation needs. The carpet, flooring, tile and wood cabinets adorning the building possess reclaimed content. Recycling over 80% of all construction debris added to the building's sustainability.
