Tenet plans $67 million project to expand medical centre in Texas

Tenet Healthcare Corporation, a US-based healthcare delivery systems provider, plans to embark on a $67 million project for the expansion of Sierra Providence East Medical Centre in El Paso, Texas.

Scope of the work involves construction of a four-storey tower and expansion of the medical centre's existing patient tower and emergency department, all of which will encompass an area of more than 145,000 square feet.

The new four-storey tower is expected to accommodate 30 surgical beds and 30 medical beds, a new cardiovascular intensive care unit that will have 12 beds and an enlarged emergency department from 21-bed facility to 31-bed. Work also involves the expansion of the cafeteria, addition of classrooms for community education and relocation of the administrative offices.

Construction on the project is expected to begin in December 2012 and be completed by the end of 2014.
