Sustainable bathroom products range from Duravit
German bathroom products company Duravit offers a line of sustainable products, designed to protect the environment by incorporating technology, which results in power and water saving.
Duravit began its endeavor at making its toilet range more sustainable since 1980s. The toilets today offered by the company flush hygienically using just 4.5 litres or lesser water. Certain toilets are also available with dual 3 and 4.5 litre flushes. These include wall-mounted Architec, Darling New, Vero, Starck 3, the D-Code compact model and close-coupled Starck 3. The Dual-Flush technology enables a family (of four) to bring water saving of about 17,000 litres per year. The flushes have two buttons, an economy button flushes with just half the water volume, while large button uses the full water volume.
The company has developed an innovative urinal technology, which has been incorporated into the McDry urinal and Architec Dry urinal, which do not require any water for flushing. To prevent unpleasant odour, the McDry urinal uses a purely plant-based, biodegradable sealing liquid. The siphon, like the urinal itself, is made from robust, durable sanitary ceramic.
The new Architec Dry urinal has an electronic hose diaphragm integrated into the outlet, which automatically opens when urine flows through and then closes. This automatic action prevents any odour. Another electronically controlled urinal by the company is Utronic urinals with individual flushing and service programmes, that guarantee high hygiene and uses just one litre of water per flush.
Duravit has developed innovative shower solutions, which offer significant water saving, with no compromise on water efficiency. The company has an extensive range of shower trays, including a model that fits flush with the floor. Duravit has also launched 160cm long bathtubs in the Starck and D-Code ranges. These tubs have a comparatively low filling volume. The Paiova bathtub is another example of sustainable bath. It has an innovative, ergonomic and sophisticated trapezoidal shape, which offers maximum bathing comfort with minimum water consumption.
Duravit has made endeavours to develop products with innovative materials that have low energy consumption. The company has used LED lighting, which in comparison with halogen lights, bring about a comparative energy saving of up to 80%. The company uses only LEDs and energy-saving lights to illuminate its bathroom furniture.
The Duravit whirl systems for whirltubs and pools use a new fan, which is 40% more efficient. The fan also reduce the whirl volume by 9dB, which brings about noise reduction of almost 50%.
The company has developed innovative materials and surfaces with new, sustainable properties. These products include DuraCeram special ceramic, an extra robust and durable material which has been developed for kitchen sinks; and nanotechnology-enabled WonderGliss ceramic coating, which enables it to use reduced amount of water and cleaning agent.
