Suffolk gets new water ride

Leisure specialist Holder Mathias, in partnership with US-based Water Technologies International and SDC Builders Limited, has completed a new £4 million ($6.4 million) water ride dubbed Tropical Cyclone at Center Parcs Elveden Forest in Suffolk, UK.

The new water ride is touted as a world-first, in that it combines two technologies that have never been combined before - a Behemoth Bowl and a Tornado in one ride. Each four-person raft takes the riders on a water adventure that involves twisting, spiralling and zigzagging down at speeds of up to 30mph, reaching zero gravity before then returning to the main pool, as if being expelled through the mouth of a cave.

Another new addition called the Lagoon Pool has been added to the ride, where the water is warmed, aerated and illuminated, mimicking a Mexican Cenote. Plants cover the rock walls.

The water ride was opened on 21 November by Paralympic star Ellie Simmonds.
