Station’s new look on the right track
AEDAS Architects has completed an £8.5m redevelopment project at Rotherham Central railway station.

The project, which AEDAS Architects began in 2007, involved the creation of new lifts and stairs, as well as a new ticket office, waiting room, lighting, improved passenger information screens and a new entrance.
The design, which was selected by South Yorkshire Passenger Transport Executive and the since-abolished Yorkshire Forward development agency, involved making the passenger lifts into a 'beacon for the station' by extending the lift shafts and incorporating signage, glazing and external lighting into the design.
According to AEDAS Architects sustainability was an integral part of the design brief and the station has now achieved a BREEAM accreditation of 'very good'
