Stanford Hospital & Clinics breaks ground on new Stanford Hospital in Palo Alto
Stanford Hospital & Clinics has broken ground on the new Stanford Hospital in Palo Altof, California, which is designed by the global architectural practice Rafael Viñoly Architects.
Forming a part of the $5 billion Stanford University Medical Center Renewal Project, the facility will add 824,000 square-feet to the existing hospital, increase patient capacity to 600 beds, and expand intensive care and emergency services.
Aiming at providing patient-centered care, the Stanford Hospital will feature individual patient rooms with large windows providing extensive natural light and ample space for family members to gather and even spend the night. It will also incorporate latest green technology to reduce environmental impact.
Apart from that it will also feature a garden level at the heart of the hospital to provide a quiet retreat for patients and families.
Construction is expected to be completed in 2017, while patient care will begin in 2018.
