Borisov Arena

Location: Barysaw, Belarus

Home of the FC BATE Borisov and Belarus national football team, Borisov Arena was designed by Slovenia -based architect firm OFIS, and officially opened in 2014. The FC BATE Borisov football club started planning for a new home arena after they reached the group stages of the European League in 2008 and 2009. Their old stadium, Haradzki Stadyon, in Barysaw did not meet the appropriate UEFA requirements.

Construction of the new arena officially started in 2010 and the stadium was completed three and a half years later. Regarded by some as one of the "most beautiful small stadiums in the world", the structure for Borisov Arena is unusual because of its aluminium coating and "birds nest" shape, with large holes piercing the outside. In fact, the stadium's rounded shape was intended to improve the acoustics of the arena and excitement of the fans.
