Specialty retailers expected to play major role in interior product sales in BRIC nations
Specialty retailers including hypermarkets, supermarkets, discounters and department stores, are expected to emerge as major sellers of interior products in BRIC nations as per a report published by BRICdata.
Across the BRIC nations, the wholesale and contract channel dominates the interior products industry, cornering over 40% of sale shares. However, with increasing disposable income and urbanization, specialty retailers are expected to emerge as strong sellers of interior products, mainly due to sales to residential customers.
In Brazil, the factory outlet channel is expected to remain the fastest-growing distribution channel, with a projected CAGR of 10.6%; while the department stores channel is expected to be the second-fastest-growing channel, with a projected CAGR of 9.6%.
In Russia, sales of interior products routed through the „wholesale and contract? channel are expected to be US$18.8 billion in 2012, with a projected value of US$27.2 billion in 2016.
In India, hypermarkets, supermarkets and discounters is also expected to be the fastest-growing distribution channel over the forecast period, with a projected CAGR of 13.0%. The department stores channel is expected to be the second-fastest-growing distribution channel over the forecast period, with an anticipated CAGR of 12.1%.
