Sotech supplies unique facade solution at Weymouth car park

British rainscreen and bespoke architectural fabricator Sotech has supplied a unique façade solution for an ASDA multi-storey car park in Weymouth.

Sotech was required to provide a façade material which will complement the store’s terracotta tiled roof, and would be robust in nature.

Sotech’s Optima IPC extruded aluminium plank system was found suitable for this brief. Over 450m2 of the extruded IPC system, known as ‘Xplank’, was provided in a textured PPC finish to match the roof tile’s surface and colour.

Xplank is only a tenth of the weight of traditional terracotta tiling and is suitable for areas where the cladding comes into pedestrian areas, due to its strength and impact resistance. The Xplank was comprehensively impact tested at both Sotech’s state-of-the-art testing facility and by independent authorities. These results were compared directly with the durability of traditional terracotta tiling.

Valuse for the ASDA multi-storey car park project is estimated at £50,000 ($75, 000).
