Somerset Airport on track to complete runway improvement plans
Somerset Airport in New Jersey is on schedule to complete the runway improvement plan by the end of 2012, which will increase safety for planes.
Binghamton-based McFarland Johnson has designed the $273,523 project and is getting ready to accept bids for a contractor to perform the installation.
Being a part of a $2.2 million eight-airport safety improvement initiative, the airport received $259,849 from the state DOT to install a Precision Approach Path Indicator. This has been reported by Joe Dee, a spokesman for the state Department of Transportation.
Federal Aviation Administration gave $212,525 in federal funding for Somerset Airport on 25 September. This has been given to update the airport layout plan, which is also a part of FAA's plan to digitize its nationwide airport computer database.
