Skanska wins school construction contract in Texas
Skanska USA, a subsidiary of Swedish Skanska AB, has won a contract from the Rio Grande City Consolidated School District to build a replacement high school in Rio Grande City, Texas.
As per the terms of the contract, Skanska will build a new seven-storey building for the school district, which will be located on the northeast side of Rio Grande City. The new building will house administration, cafeteria, fine arts facilities, classrooms, a career and technology centre and gymnasium.
The entire project will have a footprint of 32,700 square metres, which will also include an athletic complex.
Skanska plans to commence construction on the site in November 2012 and intends to wrap up the project by May 2014. The estimated value of the development is SEK350 million ($52 million).
