Shepherd wins Ercall Wood Technology College rebuild contract in UK
UK-based Shepherd Construction has secured a contract from Telford & Wrekin Council for the redevelopment of Ercall Wood Technology College in Wellington in Telford, UK.
The project is the next phase of the council's Building Schools for the Future (BSF) Programme. It involves construction of a new college, which has a capacity of 900 and a new state-of-the-art secondary school.
The replacement buildings will provide additional sporting facilities, which will be also open for community usages. The project has been designed to relieve traffic congestion on Golf Links Lane and other local roads. The new school will be a three-storey teaching building. Upon completion of work, Shepherd will also demolish the existing buildings of the school.
Outline planning consent for the project was granted in June 2012, with the company to file a detailed planning application in late 2012. Upon securing approval, work on the site will begin in early 2013.
