Salalah Airport Development project progresses
Work is underway on the Salalah Airport Development Project in Oman.
The project includes construction of a passenger terminal covering a total area of 66,000 square metres. It will be equipped with latest security systems and three belt conveyors to transport passenger luggage. Among the various features of the terminal include 3,000-capacity car parking area, retail shops, restaurants, 29 elevators, 13 electric stairs, and public service areas.
The project will lead to construction of 26 buildings. It includes an integrated centre for air control, centre for data and technological system, eight tubes between the passenger terminal and aircraft, and 10 aircraft parking spaces. The air control tower created as part of the project will have dimensions of 57 metres and will install advanced air-control systems.
There will also be development of a new runway measuring four kilometres in length. It will be fitted with various advanced navigation equipments. In addition, a a terminal for air shipping will be created as part of the project.
