Saint Thomas Hospital in Nashville breaks ground on $110 million renovation project

Saint Thomas Hospital, a member of Saint Thomas Health, has launched a $110 million renovation and expansion project in Nashville, Tennessee, which is designed by US-based architect Freeman White.

The project involves renovation of existing space and construction of a new inpatient tower. The initial phase will include renovations to 44 critical care rooms to increase their current size from 195 to 275 square feet.

The project will also expand 13 of the hospital’s 28 operating rooms to 520 square feet. These rooms were built in 1974 as part of the original construction of the hospital. The renovation will allow better utilisation specifically for orthopedic procedures that require more space.

The new inpatient tower will be built off the Harding Road entrance of the hospital, and will offer access to the Seton visitor parking garage. The tower will also accommodate facilities for patient admission and pre-admission testing.

Construction of the project will be managed by US-based Turner Construction. The work is expected to be completed by early 2017.
