SAC Federal Credit Union unveils design for new HQ in Nebraska
SAC Federal Credit Union has unveiled the design of its new $20 million corporate headquarters in Papillion, Nebraska.
The proposed headquarters will be located at the southeast corner of 72nd Street and US Highway 370, adjacent to the Shadow Lake Shopping Center and numerous other retail developments. The scheme has been designed by US-based LEO A DALY Company.
The new corporate headquarters will be a four-storey building, which will have a total footprint of 90,000 square feet. The facility will include a first-floor branch with both drive-up and external ATM options. The building will have an open floor plan and include open work areas, which will allow it to reap advantage of natural lighting and fresh air. It will also include community meeting rooms.
The building will be built using sustainable building materials, and will incorporate energy-efficient mechanical and lighting systems. The headquarters will also include cost saving measures such as geothermal heating and cooling. It will resonate SAC Federal Credit Union's commitment to both community and efficient building practices.
Central to the building is a four-storey atrium, which will serve as the communication hub of the building. The atrium will feature a large, wooden staircase to which all departments and offices will open. The upper three levels of the building will be made of glass and zinc metal panels that will cantilever 30 feet on one side, providing a canopy for the drive-through.
A rooftop patio and green space and a fourth floor balcony with an overhead lattice system will provide a space to the employees to enjoy the panoramic views of the landscape. The corridor on the northern façade will feature large windows, which will provide breakout work spaces for creative collaboration and flexible group work.
The new headquarters is scheduled for an opening in 2014 and will initially house 150 SAC employees. However, it has been designed in a way that it can accommodate an increase in employee base, projected for the next 20-30years.
The company has already acquired about five acres land and is in negotiation with the city of Papillion for about another five acres land. The new headquarters will bring together various departments, which are now dispersed throughout the city.
