Regency Centres receives LEED Silver for two US shopping centres
Regency Centers Corporation, a national owner, operator and developer of grocery-anchored and community shopping centres, has secured LEED Silver from the US Green Building council for its two shopping centres in the US.
The two shopping centres include Market at Colonnade in Raleigh in North Carolina, and the redeveloped Mariano’s Fresh Market at Roscoe Square in Chicago, Illinois.
Market at Colonnade is a 57,637 square feet property and incorporates Innovative Low Impact Design. It helps collect and reclaim up to 300,000 gallons of stormwater runoff to meet site irrigation and plumbing needs. The facility also features a pair of electric cars charging stations.
The Roscoe Square spans has been retrofitted with a green roof and underground detention cistern to offer management of stormwater run off. The facility sports high-performance insulation and glazing. These, coupled with energy-saving lighting fixtures cut down energy usage by over 20% as against pre-redevelopment levels. Recycling 96% of the construction waste from the landfills during construction of the site and building shell, and use of locally-sourced and reclaimed materials add to the sustainability factor.
