Porter Regional Hospital opens post renovation
Porter Regional Hospital in Northern Indiana, US has opened on 25 August 2012 after an extensive renovation, which introduced a new healthcare experience for patients.
Consisting of five stories, the renovation of the 459,125 square feet hospital, included all private rooms, valet parking, two dining cafes, and growing specialty care centers. The new hospital accommodates 237 private inpatient rooms and 29 private outpatient rooms.
The new hospital features several special care centres, including the Neuroscience Center, the Center for Women’s Health, the Cancer Care Center, and three stories of physician offices. It also features decentralised nursing stations to bring caregivers closer to patients, and supplies and equipment. Additionally, to keep the public and visitor movement separate from patient transport, separate patient corridors have been constructed.
Giving importance to the benefit of the patients, the renovation also included the installation of a 16-slice radiation reduction CT, a second daVinci surgical robotic platform, 1.5T MRI System, real-time digital radiography, and advanced interventional cardiac monitors. State-of-the-art patient care technology includes electronic medical records, in-room equipment carts, a real-time, at-a-glance patient status and location monitor, and advanced communication system that allows nurses to contact the call station or a physician immediately.
The interior of the hospital provides a healing environment with soothing materials and colours, peaceful scenic views, natural light, and spacious lobbies and waiting rooms.
Designed to conserve energy and water, reduce waste and use sustainable building materials, the landscape will feature thousands of plants and a lake that will be used to irrigate the landscaping.
