Pier B site in Duluth to transform into resort complex

Pier B, an old LaFarge cement plant in Duluth, Minnesota will be redeveloped to house a resort complex and condominiums.

Spanning over 5.8 acres, the redevelopment of Pier B site is aimed at revitalising the area. There are plans to construct a Pier B resort complex comprising 140 hotel units with seven condominiums.

Reflecting the history of the Twin Port, the property will also include specialty shops, recreational facilities and a restaurant and bar. A unique feature of the development will be the silos built out as part of the hotel square footage.

Post obtaining permission from The Duluth Economic Development Authority (DEDA), the developers are set to break ground on the project. DEDA was awarded $1 million to clean the 5.8 acre site.

Pier B investment group is investing more than $30 million in private investments that will cover most of the construction costs. The site is set to open on 1 May 2014.
