Pannel Croft retirement scheme opens in Birmingham
Pannel Croft Village, a residential scheme for the retired people, has opened in Birmingham, which has been developed as a partnership between Birmingham City Council, the Homes and Communities Agency (HCA), the Department of Health and the ExtraCare Charitable Trust.
Being the ExtraCare Charitable Trust’s second retirement village in the city, the new residential scheme comprises 180 apartments each with a hallway, living room, one or two bedrooms.
The scheme offers a kitchen and a shower room. All homes have their own balcony or access to shared patio areas. In addition to that, for the convenience of the older people, the scheme also includes village hall, wellbeing centre, IT suite, craft room and greenhouse.
The HCA has invested £9 million (414.3 million) into the 180-home project. ExtraCare Charitable Trust is also developing a total of five retirement villages in partnership with Birmingham City Council, with schemes also planned for Harborne, Bournville and Acocks Green.
