OSU's $1.1 billion hospital project in Ohio to be topped off
The new James Cancer Hospital and Solove Research Institute and Critical Care Center at Ohio State University's (OSU) Wexner Medical Center campus is set to be topped off.
The project, which is slated to be among the 15 tallest hospital buildings in the US, will see the construction of a 21-storey building. The project will accommodate above-ground radiation oncology units, making it among the very few facilities in the country to offer radiology services above ground.
The new building will offer an integrated space for both research and education facilities on each patient care floor which will expand the education bandwidth of the medical centre.
The patient rooms will be fully equipped with facilities, which will allow patients to receive nearly all of their care in their rooms. The patient suites in the new Critical Care Center will be complete with an en-suite shower and additional space for the family members of the patients.
The tower will house a patient friendly concourse and well appointed lobbies, which will link laboratories, classrooms, offices and garages.
