Old Trafford cricket ground redevelopment progresses
Work is underway on the regeneration of the Old Trafford cricket ground in the UK.
The facility, home to the Lancashire County Cricket Club, is being redeveloped in various phases. Work will involve several upgrades to better serve county and international cricket.
The previous phase of the project has led to construction of The Point. It has been designed by BDP and developed by Morgan Sindall and will serve as an entertainment and events space. The next phase of the project is slated to be over by mid-2012.
The new ground will install 25,000 spectator seats out of which 15,000 will be permanent. There will be creation of related facilities for all spectators, and a host of amenities for hospitality and members facilities for use on the match day and throughout the year. The project will also lead to the creation of advanced support facilities for the media, players, education and the club’s support staff.
The design of the entire site has been led by BDP.
