Office Depot's distribution centre in Newville, Pennsylvania, US has received LEED certification from the US Green Building Council.
The facility spans 600,000 square feet and imbibes several green features. It has been equipped with a high-performance split HVAC unit, as well as large-scale stratification fans which allow even distribution of air flow. The entire building has fresh air circulation and has installed carbon dioxide sensors to monitor the air.
The centre has also been fitted with low-flow lavatory faucets which reduce water consumption. Use of FSC-certified wood, as well as zero- or low-VOC finishes add to the sustainability.
