New Indo-Japanese hospital venture to open in Bengaluru

Sakra World Hospital, a joint venture by Kirloskar Systems, Secom Medical Systems Co Ltd and Toyota Tsusho Japan, will soon open in the Indian city of Bengaluru in July 2013.

The 300-bed hospital will have medical technology from both Japan and India. It will also have 60 ICU beds, with a special emphasis on emergency care. Services such as neurosurgery, orthopedics, pediatrics and internal medicine will be provided at Sakra.

The design of the hospital will be inspired from Japanese rehabilitation therapy methods in which most of the treatment will be done manually. The hospital building would be H-shaped to allow free movement of patients without many turns or intersections.

The hospital design will enable maximum infiltration of natural daylight in all patient rooms which is expected to aid in recovery. The design is in compliance with the standards of the National Accreditation Board for Hospitals and Healthcare Providers (NABH) and Joint Commission International (JCI).

Sakra World Hospital is being built with an investment of INR220 crore ($1.3 billion).
