New green hostel to open in Boston in June 2012


Hostelling International USA is set to open its new green hostel in Boston, Massachusetts, US on June 2012.


The facility will be housed in the refurbished Dill Building listed under the National Register of Historic Places. The six-level structure spans 55,500 square feet. The hostel has been designed by Boston-based architectural firms Bergmeyer Associates and Stegman + Associate with Suffolk Construction serving as the construction management firm.

The new hostel will house 480 beds offering views of the surrounding city. There will be 100 private bathrooms adjacent to every room. A lobby sporting floor-to-ceiling windows and a coffee shop, as well as a community room are among the various features of the new property.

In addition, the building will abide by a host of sustainable principles. It includes installation of green elevators, and use of Energy Star-certified appliances and equipments. The facility will also make use of reclaimed materials during construction, as well as incorporate solar thermal panels.
