New facility at CSG Calvijn Groene Hart topped out in Barendrecht
Christelijke Scholengemeenschap Calvijn has celebrated topping out ceremony of its newest school building at CSG Calvijn Groene Hart in Barendrecht, Netherlands, which has been designed by Netherlands-based architectural practice Mecanoo.
The new facility will accommodate secondary education of the school and will house art department, staff rooms and science labs. The school will feature a brick and glass façade, which will create a beautiful addition to its green campus.
The new building is marked by two striking elements, which comprises rounded corners of the three wings and the playful composition of large and small windows, which are unevenly distributed across the building. The three wings converge to form a triangular central area with staggered light wells and overhead daylight.
The interiors of the school will have wooden walls and frames. The central hall will be done up in orange colour, forming a landmark for all five staff teams. One of the wings will accommodate separate living room for every team.
