New Broughton Hospital breaks ground
The new Broughton Hospital in North Carolina, US has broken ground.
The new facility will replace the old hospital which is divided into separate wards across the Broughton Hospital. It will cover an area of about 477,000 square feet and will consolidate all the hospital’s services under one roof.
The new hospital will house residential patient care units, medical therapy and treatment facilities, as well as administrative support spaces. It will have a bed capacity of 384.
The project will be financed via special indebtedness bonds approved by the North Carolina General Assembly. Work is due to be over by October 2014 with the hospital expected to fully operate by mid-2015.
