Network Rail wins approval for office project in Leeds
UK-based rail operator Network Rail has secured planning approval from Leeds City Council for the redevelopment of a Grade II listed building, 1 Aire Street, into an office scheme in Leeds.
Located above Leeds Train Station, adjacent to the Queens Hotel and fronting City Square, the Grade II listed 1 Aire Street will be redeveloped in a way which will not hamper the special character and the art deco elevations of the building.
Estimated to cost £9 million ($13.64 million), the project will create 30,605 square feet of high quality office space, which will be spread over ground and six upper floors. The project also involves creation of a new entrance within the Northern Concourse of the station. The typical floor plates will be 5,317 square feet in two suites, which will have a stylish and secure modern reception and fully refurbished common parts.
The project will provide Leeds City Centre with much needed supply of smaller office suites in the heart of the city’s business district.
Network Rail has commenced enabling work at the site and plans to commence full refurbishment work in March 2013, with completion scheduled for the third quarter of the year.
