NCC wins $236 million mixed-use development project in Denmark
NCC Construction Denmark A/S has secured a SEK1.5 billion ($236.32 million) contract from Carlsberg Byen P/S to build the phase I of mixed-use development called Carlsberg Byen in Copenhagen, Denmark.
The Carlsberg Byen project will be developed on Carlsberg’s former brewery area in western Copenhagen. The entire project will deliver a total of 567,000 square meters, which will be developed in a span of 15-20 years.
The work in the phase I of Carlsberg Byen involves development of a new campus, housing, offices and retail spaces, which will have a total footplate of 101,000 square meters.
The development will include a new campus of University College Copenhagen (UCC), which will have an area of nearly 60,000 square meters. UCC plans to concentrate all of its operations in Carlsberg Byen. The campus will be used by more than 10,000 students and 800 employees.
The project will also comprise 6,500 square meters of retail space, 3,500 square meters of office space, 15,000 square meters of residential space and nearly 20,000 square meters of basement space.
NCC has commenced project planning of Carlsberg Bye and plans to start the project in mid-2013. The phase I is scheduled for completion at mid-2016 with the entire project to be delivered by early 2017.
