Nationwide Children’s Hospital opens new surgery centre
Nationwide Children’s Hospital in Ohio, US has opened its new $18.4 million surgery centre.
The project has been designed by Design Group. The property is the first off-site ambulatory surgery centre of the hospital and is an extension of the existing surgery services on the main campus. The facility spans over an area of 46,000 square feet and encompasses two floors of patient care areas.
The first storey of the building consists of four advanced operating rooms. The same level also features a waiting room for accompanying families of the patients. The second floor of the building consists of pediatric surgical subspecialty clinics which include plastic surgery, as well as otolaryngology.
Among other features of the centre are 12 private pre-op rooms, two stages of recovery areas, and a drive-up area. The pre-op rooms have been equipped with toys, cable television and Wii units. The surgery facility incorporates a new one-way flow to ease access. The entire facility is adorned in primary tones and nature themes.
