Nashville Government to build new $9.5 million library
Nashville Government has announced plans to build a new $9.5 million library in Nashville, Tennessee which will replace the 1984-built Nashville Public Library.
The new library will be built behind the Bellevue Middle School near the corner of Colice Jeanne Road and Baugh Road in Nashville, which is about half mile away from the existing library. The new facility will encompass an area of 25,000 square feet.
The new library will have 50 public-use computers, and up to five computers for searching the library catalog. The facility will incorporate a large children's area featuring comfortable and age-appropriate seating and places, which will allow families to read together. It will also feature a dedicated teen space, complete with comfortable seating and multi-use study space featuring modern amenities.
The community room of the facility will have a seating capacity of more than 100 individuals. The facility will also accommodate a separate room for children’s programs such as story time.
The new library will also accommodate a dedicated story telling space for both parents and children. The pipeline library will also include study rooms of varying sizes, an exhibit and gallery space, a vending café and a parking space for 150 vehicles.
Construction of the building will be done in compliance with the requirements of LEED Silver certification. The project is likely to take 18 months to complete.
