Muse builds civic offices in UK
UK-based construction company Muse Developments is constructing new The Civic and Cultural Quarter (CCQ) in Waterdale, Doncaster, UK.
The CCQ is being developed by Doncaster Council, in association with Muse Development. The building has been designed by Cartwright Pickard Architects with Wates Construction serving as the contractor on the scheme. The building, that stands opposite to Sir Nigel Gresley Square, will create a bold statement in the area.
The new Civic and Cultural Quarter features an abstract pattern of terracotta glazed tiles. The company is installing nearly 3,200 tile baguettes (square terracotta tubes), in 12 regal palettes on the façade of the the council chamber, which will add an aesthetic appeal to the building.
The company is using different shades of blue and purple along with odd random colour, to create a bold and colorful building at the main entrance. Each baguette has a dimension of 50mm x 50mm and 1.4 metres long and spaced 50mm apart.
The terracotta is highly sustainable and durable. The tile baguettes are manufactured from natural robust materials, require low maintenance and are weatherproof.
