Morgan Sindall secures Chancery Lane office project
UK-based Morgan Sindall has secured a £30 million ($50.84 million) contract to build a commercial development, designed by Bennetts Associates, on London’s Chancery Lane from Derwent London.
The project includes the demolition of the existing buildings at 40-45 Chancery Lane. It will also include design and construction of a seven-storey office building that will provide 102,000 square feet of premium Grade A office space with retail space at ground floor.
The development’s design will incorporate the existing building at Tooks Court around a central courtyard that will be accessible to the public during the day. Employing sustainably sourced materials, the building will feature various eco-friendly elements such as, green roofs, fair faced concrete, chilled plasterboard ceilings, low energy lighting and presence detection. The facility will also include high efficiency mechanical and electrical systems to accommodate future needs.
Work has already started on site to demolish the existing buildings with the development due to be completed in September 2014. It is also being aspired for a BREEM ‘Excellent’ rating.
