MITIE wins $16.3 million office renovation contract in London
UK-based MITIE has secured a £10.5 million ($16.3 million) design and build contract from Eastgate Holdings Limited to refurbish its office in London.
The renovation of the office space, located at 8 Fenchurch Place in the city of London, will be carried out by the Built Environment division of MITIE. Scope of work involves refurbishment of the 100,000 square feet area of the building to create a CAT A category space.
To undertake the task, MITIE will strip the building back to its shell and core. The renovated space will feature new floors and ceilings with a new mechanical and electrical infrastructure. Post retrofit, the building will boast of an occupational density of 1:6 and 1:10 respectively.
The building will feature new reception area, with a double height illuminated stone portal and full height glazing. The reception area will be marked by its stone flooring, feature walls and attractive lighting.
The building will also receive cost effective heating and ventilation system. Construction will incorporate a host of sustainable practices and features, with the building set to achieve a BREEAM 'Very Good' rating. The project is scheduled for wrap-up by November 2012.
