Italian tile maker Trend has signed an exclusive deal with the fashion house Missoni, under which, Trend-designed products would be used across all hotels, boutiques, bars and restaurants of Missoni around the world.

Under the terms of the contract, Trend will offer its line of Italian glass mosaic tiles and modern agglomerate finishes for the three Missoni hotels, both completed as well as under construction, and 10 other pipeline hotel projects, which are likely to be added at various sought-after locations across the globe.

For the projects, Trend will supply decorative finishing products, which will assist Missoni to deliver showstopping theatrical spaces, more intimate and fashionable interiors, and the brand’s flamboyant and eye-catching colours. The company’s future projects will feature an immense mosaic patters based on Missoni's design philosophy, which involves a multitude of patterns such as stripes, zigzags and abstract florals in a kaleidoscope of colours.

Trend’s technique blends artisan processes with modern manufacturing that creates atypical combinations of interior finishing materials and colourways which are marked for their distinctive concept. The handcrafted glass mosaic tiles and luxurious agglomerate surfaces of Trend will positively affect Missoni’s design development skills with vibrant colours and a vast range of patterns and textures that will complement Missoni’s own hallmark flair.

Trend tile collection is offered in traditional and mini-mosaic formats, which include iridescent and enamelled effects, semi-transparent fused glass, eco-chic recycled textures, traditional hand-cut tesserae, and tiles crafted from 24 carat yellow and white gold.

Trend also offers another striking range of agglomerate cladding and floor tiles that provide a rich mix of Italian granite, natural quartzite and recycled glass materials, bonded together with a minimal amount of polyester resin. The products claim to offer superior performance in heavy-duty areas.

Missoni’s first hotel, Hotel Missoni in Edinburgh, features Missoni-designed massive vases that have been decorated by Trend with precious glass mosaic in the ultra-stylish lobby of the hotel, as well as Missoni Home showrooms.

Trend used hand-cut tesserae in 2 x 2, 2 x 1 and 1 x 1cm formats and traditional opus incertum laying techniques to recreate the Missoni’s design genius and has introduced a new dimension and aesthetic to Missoni’s hallmark style.
